Route Receipt and Supplier Invoice Emails to Spendesk
A reviewed handoff to Marvin for card receipts or bills Inbox for supplier invoices
Spendesk exposes company-specific destinations for different document jobs. Marvin receives card-payment receipts, while the bills Inbox receives supplier invoices and creates draft requests on Essentials, Growth, and Premium. Spendesk excludes Starter from invoice forwarding. Expensent can find and route selected source emails to the verified address for the intended workflow.
This is an email-routing workflow, not a native Spendesk API integration. Spendesk retains receipt matching, invoice assignment, approval, export, and accounting control.
The Inbox-to-Spendesk Gap
Spendesk provides both destinations, but source messages still need the correct next-action decision:
- •A card-payment receipt and an unpaid supplier invoice belong in different email workflows
- •One supplier can send both receipt and invoice document types
- •Duplicate detection and payment export state can block a later receipt attachment
- •Large batches and unclear files can create OCR, assignment, or upload errors
Route Each Document to the Correct Spendesk Workflow
Connect the source inbox, review the document and its next action, and route it to the current company address for receipts or invoices.
- Next-action routing: Choose Marvin for card evidence or bills Inbox for an invoice request
- Review before delivery: Keep portal-only notices, duplicates, and unclear payment context visible
- Historical catch-up: Find older receipts and invoices that still need a Spendesk path
- Separate recurring rules: Use distinct sender, subject, and document patterns for each destination
What Spendesk Does After Delivery
Marvin attempts to attach receipt evidence to a Spendesk payment. On Essentials, Growth, and Premium, the supplier invoice address creates draft requests in Inbox; Starter does not include this feature.
- •The receipt address is available in Payments and uses a company-specific receipts+ value
- •On Essentials, Growth, and Premium, Inbox provides a separate bills+ invoice address
- •Supplier invoice forwarding is available on Essentials, Growth, and Premium, not Starter
- •Marvin email guidance names PDF; broader upload guidance also accepts JPG and PNG
- •Spendesk creates one invoice request per attachment and warns about messages with more than 10 invoices
- •Unrecognized invoice senders can identify a Spendesk user in CC for assignment
- •Exported payments may no longer accept receipt attachment or modification
Do not mix the destinations: Copy the live address from the correct Spendesk screen and confirm whether the document is payment evidence or a supplier invoice request.
