How Can We Help You?

Find answers to common questions about setup, billing, privacy, and integrations.

Getting Started

What is Expensent?
Expensent connects to your email inbox, finds invoice and receipt emails, and lets you forward them to your accountant or accounting software. You can forward any invoice with one click, or set up a rule so future invoices from the same source are forwarded automatically.
How does Expensent find my invoices?
After you connect your email with secure OAuth, Expensent uses AI to identify invoice and receipt emails. Each one is categorized by status: ready to forward (has a PDF attachment), download from portal (invoice lives on the vendor website), needs review (ambiguous), or false positive (not an invoice).
How do I set up auto-forwarding rules?
When Expensent finds an invoice, you can create a rule with one click right from that email. The rule uses the email pattern and subject to recognize future invoices from the same source — so next time that invoice arrives, it goes straight to your accounting software.
Can Expensent find past invoices I already received?
Yes. After connecting your email, Expensent looks through your existing inbox history and surfaces invoices you may have missed. You can then forward them or set up rules for the future.
What accounting tools does Expensent work with?
Expensent forwards to any email address, so it works with Expensify, QuickBooks, Xero, Dext, FreshBooks, Ramp, BILL, SAP Concur, and many more. Visit the Integrations page for the full list with setup instructions.

Billing & Plans

Do I need a long-term commitment?
No. We offer a straightforward monthly plan with no contracts or commitments. Try it for a month, and if it doesn't work for you, simply cancel — no questions asked.
Can I cancel anytime?
Absolutely! No contracts, no commitments. Cancel anytime from your settings. Your subscription stays active until the end of your billing period.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, and many local payment methods through Stripe. All payments are secure and encrypted.
How does the referral program work?
Share your unique referral link with friends. When they subscribe, you both win — you get 1 month free for each friend who subscribes!
Is my data secure?
We use bank-level encryption and OAuth login — we never see your password. AI prefilters on email metadata only — personal emails are filtered out without their content ever being read.
What if I need help?
Our support team is here to help! Reach out anytime via our contact page or email. We typically respond within 24 hours.

Privacy & Security

How does Expensent access my email?
Expensent uses secure OAuth to connect to your email provider. We never see or store your email password. You authorize access through your email provider (Google, Microsoft, etc.) and can revoke it at any time.
Does Expensent read all my emails?
No. AI prefilters on email metadata first (sender, subject line). Personal emails are filtered out without their content ever being read. Only emails identified as potential invoices are analyzed further — and only to extract invoice details.
Where is my data stored?
All data is encrypted at rest and in transit using bank-level encryption. We process data in secure cloud infrastructure and never sell or share your data with third parties. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Can I disconnect my email at any time?
Yes. You can disconnect your email from your account settings at any time. Once disconnected, Expensent immediately stops accessing your inbox. You can also request full data deletion by contacting our support team.

Integrations & Guides

How do I forward invoices to my accounting software?
Each accounting tool has a specific email address for receiving invoices (like receipts@expensify.com). Add that address in your Expensent settings, then forward invoices with one click or set up auto-forwarding rules. Visit the Integrations page for your tool's specific setup instructions.
Can I forward to multiple destinations?
Yes. You can set up different forwarding rules for different types of invoices. For example, vendor invoices could go to your accountant while expense receipts go to your expense tool.
What do the invoice statuses mean?
Expensent categorizes each invoice by status: "Ready to forward" means it has a PDF attachment and is ready to send. "Download from portal" means the invoice lives on the vendor's website. "Needs review" means the email is ambiguous. "False positive" means it's not actually an invoice.
Where can I find step-by-step setup guides?
We have detailed guides for every supported integration, covering the exact email address to use, step-by-step setup, and troubleshooting tips. Visit the Guides page for walkthroughs.
